Revival in Haiti

The following message was written by Chris Lieb yesterday. God truly is doing amazing things right now.

We are experiencing a revival that is unprecedented though out Haiti. This picture shows 42 people being saved today at Thomassin. There have been 82 people saved this weekend just at Thomassin. I have been receiving phone calls and one as far as Maisade which is over 5 hours from the epicenter of the earthquake and there were over 200 saved in that church. All the churches that I have been in contact with have been full with people sitting outside and there have been literally thousands that have been saved in Haiti though the past three days. A month ago we were overwhelmed with patients in the hospital to be saved physically. Today our churches are overwhelmed with people being spiritually saved. These days are unprecedented in Haiti. It is wonderful to see our churches in action. Please continue to pray for Haiti

Praise God! After several months of not having a working well we were finally able to get the well fixed yesterday. This is a huge answer to prayer! We now have a source of water to provide some needed water.

Katiana update

Yesterday Katiana had her fourth surgery. Dr. Greg found two small tears in her bladder, causing urine to fill her abdominal cavity, resulting in all of the symptoms previously undiagnosed. Dr. Greg was able to repair both tears and the operation (which even in the most advanced technology is risky) was a success. The doctors and nurses are praising God for the wisdom He gave them in discovering the problem and repairing it.

Calebasee food distribution

On Saturday we were able to send food to the community of Calebasse.

They put the food into the school to be able to prepare it for distribution.

The community was very excited to see this desperately needed food and supplies arriving.

The pastor had made a list of all the people who were in need from the church and as part of the church service they were all given a sac of food.



When the people of the church had received their food their was still food remaining, so people were given another bag and encouraged to go and share it with someone they knew from the community who was also in need. They were also to use this as an evangelistic tool and share the love of Christ at the same time.

God's blessings

Yesterday we were able to receive some lumber, metal roofing and plastic buckets. The day before we were able to get a large truck load of food, which we have already started to distribute.
Today we are supposed to be getting some more food and supplies.
God is providing in amazing ways and we are so blessed to be receiving all these supplies to help the surrounding communities.
Yesterday we heard reports of how some of the churches affiliated with BHM are being used as places of shelter. One church in the community of Haute Pereaux has 90 people living in it. Praise God that these churches are safe places for people of the community to find shelter.
The reports of lost homes in the surrounding communities are staggering. Pastors and community leaders are starting to bring us lists of families and basic information about them, of those who have lost their homes completely and those who have had damage to their homes.
We are estimating to just provide the materials to help these people rebuild is going to be over $2 million.
We are seeing God provide in amazing ways and we are trusting that He will continue to meet the ongoing needs.

Bollose Food Distribution

Yesterday we were able to send food and supplies to 3 communities. Today we sent food and supplies to 3 more communities. The people are so grateful for the help that they are receiving and the local pastors are doing an excellent job of overseeing the distribution.
The following pictures were taken by the driver that we sent to Bollose with the food, tarps and shoes. He had never used a camera before, so I think he did an excellent job of showing what took place yesterday.

Food Distribution

The past few days we have been able to start distributing much needed food to the surrounding communities. We are working along with our network of pastors to help distribute this food. These godly men, know the needs of their communities better then we do and they also know the best way to distribute the food without having a mob.
This morning we loaded a truck and sent it to the rural community of Bollosse. Pastor Stephen was here to help load the truck and traveled along to oversee the distribution. We sent a camera along with the driver so hopefully when they return we will have some pictures of the distribution.


Pastor Soimeus from the Fermathe church organized a food distribution this morning. It was very orderly and he along with several other members of the church were able to give food to about 100 families.
They had all the food bagged up in the room under this building and people went in one by one to receive their food

Update on the head trauma man

We were not able to get a helicopter transport for him, so we found a willing driver and he was transported down to the University of Miami field hospital.
We are continuing to pray that all went well with the transport and that God will give the doctors wisdom to be able to treat his serious wounds.

Encouraging Medical events

On Sunday Little Winsdhe was born. His mother Moinse had a C-section and everything is fine. Both Moinse and Winsdhe are doing great. Praise God for new life!

These 3 men are all from the Fermathe Church (the church on the mission campus). They came into the hospital and offered to donate blood. We are so grateful for the willingness of these men to give in this way.

God is doing great things with Katiana

Here is picture of Katiana that was taken this afternoon. The doctors were able to help her sit up and she is starting to do much better.
It really is amazing to see the huge improvement that she has made in a week. God is so good.

Difficult day

Today has been a difficult day medically.
This afternoon the doctors lost a patient in the OR. They resuscitated her twice but sadly she died. She had come in to get her bandages changed after having a toe amputated at a different hospital. But while she was here they took x-rays and discovered that she had a very enlarged heart and they are not sure what was wrong with her. Her sister was here with her and is very shock up right now. Pray that God would comfort the sister and the family. This lady was the cousin of one of our workers. Pray for St. Phar's family as they deal with this loss.

A few minutes ago we had a man come in who had been cutting down a tree. He fell out of the tree and as he was falling a large piece of metal came and fell on his head. He has a major head trauma. The doctors said that he has bleeding on the brain and we are currently praying for a miracle to get him to a hospital with a neurosurgeon. We have contacted the 82nd Airborne and they are trying to come up here to pick him up.
Hopefully later tonight I will be able to update on what happened with him.

Wednesday update

Pierre Richard Update:
Yesterday we were able to contact the person responsible for patient follow up on the USS comfort. They took all the information and said that they would contact us when they had some information. We still have not heard back from them, so we are praying that soon we get some answers for his mother who is really worried about her son.

Katianna Update:
She is still holding on. Today the doctors were talking about trying to get her up and moving a little. It is a non weigh bearing bone so they said that movement will help her to heal. It is going to be painful, but something that she needs to do. Pray that God continues to heal her and gives the doctors wisdom.

Supplies:
Dave (a board member) has been here since Saturday and has been a huge help. Today he is hoping to be able to get 100 sacs of rice and 50 sacs of beans. Pray that this happens. There are so many hungry people in the surrounding communities and we would really like to give this food to the local pastors so they can distribute it to those in need in their communities.

Another Great Day

Rosemay's family

Today the 2 chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response team, along with Daniel and Elismond, their translators, traveled down to visit Rosemay, one of the people who accepted Christ while she was a patient in the hospital. Many of you may have read Rosemay's story on the BHM website. If not check it out www.bhm.org.
As part of the follow up after leading her to the Lord, Rebecca and Jack wanted to visit her family and community since she returned home a few days ago.
The family was pleased to have them visit and gladly listened as the chaplains shared about Christ. Before they left they were able to lead 11 family members to the Lord. God is doing such incredible things and the harvest is plentiful right now.
We praise God for this family and ask that you join us in praying for Rosemay's family. Pray that they would find a good church in their community to be discipled and grow in their new faith.

Reports continue to come in from the schools in the surrounding area. Many homes of the children in the schools have been damaged. Some schools have been damaged badly and others have lost some classrooms. The rebuilding process is going to take a very long time.

We are praising God that Dave and Chris had a good day in Port-au-Prince making some very good contacts. Pray that as they go back again tomorrow they will be able to get some very needed supplies.

Pierre Richard update

A few days ago I mentioned a little boy named Pierre Richard who had severe head injuries. We transferred him to the Isreali hospital and later found out that they transferred him to the USS Comfort. We have had no news since.
This morning his mother came and asked us if we could help her find out about her little boy. Her husband is with their son, but she has no way to communicate with him. Neither of them have phones so they don't know anything about each other. The mother is very worried and would really like an update on her son.
Pray that some how we would be able to find out what has happened to Pierre and his father. Pray also the God would continue to comfort the mother. This is a very difficult time for her, not knowing what is happening.
She has no house to go to and is really struggling right now.

Day of Rest

Today has been a day of much needed rest for everyone. We as missionary staff have all been able to attend church and rest this afternoon.
The visiting medical staff that are here are also taking some time off today.

Continue to pray for strength and wisdom. Trying to gather supplies and organize the best ways to get aid to people can sometimes seem overwhelming.

Continue to pray for Katiana. She is still struggling. Pray that God gives the doctor's wisdom to know the best treatment for her and that God continues to heal her.

Some missionary staff and volunteers in action

Grandma Dunn arrived here the Thursday before the earthquake. She was planning to help with many sewing projects, cleaning etc. But since the quake she has been kept busy preparing bandages for the hospital and various other medical related projects. We are so thankful for her willingness to help out in what ever way she can.

Pastor Baker and Jean Angus (our hospital administrator) have many difficult decisions to make at this time. Pray that God would continue to give them wisdom.


Micheal is a volunteer that arrived on Monday. He had planned to come and spend 6 months here prior to the earthquake. After the quake he was still able to find a way here and we are very thankful to have him. He is a very willing servant and is willing to do almost anything. He was part of the group of people who scrubbed a room that is now being used as hospital overflow. It was not a pleasent job, but he willingly did it.

Brianne, Abby and Kelli Lieb all helped clean the room also.

Pastor Baker help also to get plumbing and electrical things working.

Still happy cheerful boys

On the day of the earthquake the Mother went to market to buy some food and left her two boys, Donsy (almost 1) and Peterson (3 1/2) at home with a servant.

When the earthquake hit, the servant ran and left the kids inside the house. The mother quickly ran home and saw her house collapsed and realized her children were under the house. It took 6 hours to get them out and they immediately took them to the closest hospital. Amongst all this they found out that the father had died at work.
They stayed at this hospital for 2 days, where Peterson was able to have his hand looked at. But they were not pleased with the care that they were receiving, so they brought the two boys to our hospital. Sadly the doctors had to amputate Peterson's left hand.

Donsy had some bruises, but thankfully no serious injuries. These little boys are still very cheerful and playful and making the best of their situation.

Both boys remain in the hospital, with their cousin Elsie, who is here to help take care of them.


Many of these stories are being collected by Kelli. She has spent many hours helping in the hospital. She often spends time talking and praying with the patients.

Pictures from yesterday

This precious little boy was born yesterday. His mother had to have a C-section, but everything went well and both mother and baby are healthy.

This lady was going to have a C-section since her baby was breach. Just as the doctors were about to start the surgery, she started pushing and was able to deliver the baby naturally even though the baby was breach. Thankfully both mother and baby girl are doing well.


Jean, one of our lab technicians lost her house. She was very grateful for the gift of a mat to have something nice to sleep on now. Thank you so much to ladies from Ontario, Canada, who made these and brought them to Haiti.


Darline is from the Calebasse area, a mountain village further up the mountain from the mission. She lost her house during the earthquake leaving her family homeless. There were 10 people living in the house, her husband, 3 children and 5 other family members. Thankfully they are all okay, but they are now living outside on the street. They lost everything. She was so thankful for the blessing of 2 mats, clothes, shoes and hygiene items.


All of our doctors both, national and visiting, are very dedicated people. This doctor, Dr. Warren Cooper, willingly took his own blood to give to one of the patients in need.


This is one of our nurses. She was assigned to this patient after he came out of surgery. She was singing to him and comforting him as he recovered. This nurse is due to have her baby next week. She plans to work each day until she delivers. Pray that God would give her the strength to keep serving and that she would have a safe and uncomplicated birth of her child soon.


Florence and Darline are mother and daughter. They were both in their house when it fell. The mother had a broken femur and she is very grateful that she could come to this hospital and have surgery to repair her bone. Yesterday they left the hospital. They were very thankful for the mat they were given, so they have something to sleep on now. They are planning on staying with friends who live in the local area so that they can come back to the hospital for follow up visits.

This little girl's name is Aldine. She was brought here from an orphanage. We are unsure how old she is, but we guessing she is between 3 and 5. The doctors think she may have down's syndrome or other major problems. We are praising the Lord that yesterday morning she finally sat up and ate. Pray that God would give the doctors wisdom to know how to help Aldine. Pray also that she would continue to eat and respond to the medical staff.
