We are so thankful for everyone who has partnered with us as we serve in Haiti.
After a summer full of activity it is nice to be settled back into our “normal” routine. The temperatures are slowly cooling down and school has started back up again. Here are some of the higlights of the past couple of months.

Summer Bible Institute Teaching
Once again this year Kyrk had the opportunity to teach a class at the Summer Bible Institute held in Fermathe each July and August. It was a joy to teach the third year students about the doctrines on Man, Sin and Salvation. This meant a lot of travel since Kyrk would go to Fermathe each Tuesday, teach on Wednesday and then return home on Thursday. We praise God for a great group of students who were very receptive to the teaching, and also for safety as Kyrk traveled.
New School in Moulin Gouane
For three weeks this summer it was our privilege to host a group from World Servants Netherlands. Enduring the extreme heat they were able to gift the community of Moulin Gouane with a three classroom building. This now gives the community six classrooms as they move ever closer to having the required one classroom per grade in order to be officially licensed by the government of Haiti.
Passing Hurricanes
So far this has been a very active hurricane season. We are so thankful for God’s grace and mercy on Haiti. Irma threatened the island and was projected to pass very close to the northern coast. We were expecting the worst and the kids and I evacuated to Fermathe. Kyrk and Johnny stayed here in Atrel and God truly answered prayers and moved the hurricane much further north. There were high winds, but very little rain and we are so thankful that there was very little damage.
Then during the third week of September we had Maria pass well north of Haiti. This gave us a couple rainy days and some wind, but thankfully we have only one report of a church up in the mountains loosing it’s roof and some small damage to another mountain community.
Sewing Ministry
After a summer of many interruptions to our sewing ministry, we are now back meeting together each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. It continues to be a joy to work with these ladies. One of the new projects is a doll purse for little girls. They would make great Christmas gifts. Official Opening of Updated Atrel Clinic
Over the past year the community of Atrel along with many of their friends and family in the US, have worked together to update the Atrel Clinic. It was an honor to be able to help install all the electricity in this updated clinic, with a special shout out to the group from Fellowship Bible Church in Sewell, New Jersey for the help with that as well. It is really neat to see the local community being proactive in this area of great need and we are very thankful for improvements that are being made to medical care offered in our community.
